October 15 is the last day of operation for our Northeast Heights Adoption & Training Center. This location, which opened in 2010, served as an adoption location for dogs and cats, and also offered training classes. We opened the location, at 9132 Montgomery Blvd. NE, as a satellite location to serve residents of this area.

However, now that Project Humane, our $5.6 million renovation, has been completed at our 615 Virginia St. SE Main Campus, we are proud to report that it is busier than ever, and we have decided to relocate our satellite to better serve residents on Albuquerque’s West Side, and those in Corrales and Rio Rancho.

“Our goal is to match as many families with their perfect pets as possible, but we ultimately found that our previous Westside location on Corrales Road was a bit too far off the beaten path so we closed it in 2012,” says Peggy Weigle, Animal Humane’s Executive Director. “We always intended to re-open an Adoption Center once our Main Campus renovation was completed to serve Westside and Rio Rancho residents. We are pleased to have signed a lease with Dr. Danny Levenson for a new Adoption Center at 10141 Coors Blvd. NW and plan to be open in early 2016. Having recently celebrated our 50th Anniversary and completed the 615 Virginia St. SE renovation, Animal Humane is ready to take this next step to continue our evolution of programs and services.”

A Westside location is expected to open in early 2016. Until then, Westside/Rio Rancho pet lovers may visit our gorgeous campus, located at 615 Virginia St. SE, or attend Mobile Adoptions around town, and our experienced Adoptions Team can help you find your perfect pets.
