Surrender a Cat or Dog

Notice:

We cannot currently accept any walk-in surrenders or strays at this time unless the animal was previously adopted from Animal Humane New Mexico.  For additional resources, please see below.

Surrender a Cat

The admissions process may take 30-60 minutes depending on the number of animals and overall handleability. Surrendering parties must be present for the entire intake process to ensure that all cats may be admitted. Please bring your cat in a carrier if possible. We will not accept the surrender of cats or kittens brought in traps.

If you would like to set up an appointment to surrender a cat(s) please call our Admissions team at 505.255.5523 ext. 115 and a staff member will return your call within 48 – 72 business hours.

Surrender a Dog

Animal Humane New Mexico is not accepting surrenders of dogs that were not adopted from our organization at this time.  Strays are accepted as our capacity allows.
