Job Title

  • Outreach Volunteer

  • Outreach Volunteers will be part of a team of individuals assisting with the work of the ASPCA Albuquerque Community Partnership Program, a program aimed at reducing the number of animals entering Albuquerque shelters and increasing the number of animals adopted.  The Outreach portion of the program will focus on reaching into neighborhoods identified as having high incidence of surrenders, particularly of Chihuahua-type and Pit Bull-type dogs, at Albuquerque’s City Animal Welfare Department and Animal Humane New Mexico shelters.  These “hot spot neighborhoods” will receive information on spay/neuter programs for pit bull- and Chihuahua-type dogs, and additional pet wellness information via direct community outreach and neighborhood Pet Health Fair events.

  • Outreach Volunteers will work within “hot spot neighborhoods” identified for focus by the Animal Humane Neighborhood Outreach Manager (NOM).  Which neighborhoods are focused on will rotate throughout the year.

  • Outreach Volunteers will conduct door to door outreach with the NOM and other volunteers in groups of 2-3 in order to reach every residence in “hot spot neighborhoods.”
    • Door to door outreach will include speaking with residents about upcoming Pet Health Fairs for their neighborhood, providing information on spay/neuter resources, providing collars and tags for resident pets, providing spay/neuter vouchers for interested pit bull and Chihuahua owners, and/or providing information about local resources for low-income pet owners.
