Meet Our Veterinarians

Dr. Jackie Blanchette, DVM
Animal Humane Chief Veterinary OfficerDr. Jackie Image

Dr. Jackie Blanchette joined Animal Humane’s team in February 2011. She is a native New Mexican, hailing from the southeastern part of the state. She graduated from NMSU at Las Cruces, NM and then went on to Colorado State University College of Veterinary Medicine to graduate in 2003. Afterward, she returned to Albuquerque, NM and worked with a variety of animals such as horses, sheep and goats, dogs, cats, cattle, and even a few skunks. Dr. Blanchette also learned veterinary acupuncture at CSU and enjoys having another way to help her patients. When she is not busy in the hospital, she enjoys running and hiking with her dog, Roxy, baking, making improvements on her home and gardening.

Dr. Rebecca Yarne, DVMDr. Yarne

Dr. Rebecca Yarne was born and raised in West Hartford, CT. However, she has called New Mexico home since moving here in 1996. Dr. Yarne received her first of two bachelor degrees in 1996 at Kenyon College in Ohio; the second was received at the University of New Mexico in 2002. Dr. Yarne realized her passion ultimately was for the medical care of animals and received her Doctorate of Veterinary Medicine from Colorado State University in 2008. Following graduation she completed a year of specialized training in a medical and surgical internship in Florida at the Equine Medical Center of Ocala. Dr. Yarne joined the Animal Humane team in September of 2011. She loves the daily opportunity to touch many lives of both the shelter animals and those seen through our Donor-subsidized Veterinary Clinic. Her professional interests include dentistry and surgery.

Dr. Yarne lives in the East Mountains with her husband, three horses, three goats and five dogs. Her dogs are Blue – the old yellow lab, Cash – a young black lab, Reina – a hyped-up red heeler, Henry – an emotionally needy mini-Aussie, and Willie – a talkative terrier mix. She spends her free time caring for the animals, training her horse, trail riding and gardening.
