Adoptions Front Office Lead

Job Summary:  Provide customer service and support to the adoptions department in responding to customers.  Provide information and direction for all Adoption customers during the check in process.  Oversee operations of reception area including the training and management of volunteers.


  • Answer incoming calls and provide information as appropriate; forward messages to the appropriate department.
  • Receive and enter lost and found reports.
  • Greet incoming visitors, respond to questions, requests, complaints and/or refer to appropriate department.  Assist in filling out MYM adopter surveys and directing visitors to our kennels.
  • Retrieve and respond to all incoming call messages left at the general voice mail box daily (or next business day, if appropriate).
  • Provide and maintain printed materials and brochures for adoption programs and services.
  • Maintain updated referral listing book of resource for internal and external customers in accessing animal services and programs.
  • Maintain thorough knowledge of the workings of department.
  • Maintain neat and clean lobby and work areas.
  • Manage and train adoption volunteers as needed.
  • Assist in the training new adoption advisers.
  • Order and maintain supply of engraving tags.
  • Maintain feral cat trap inventory and upkeep customer database to ensure traps are being returned in a timely manner.
  • Call on microchips of incoming strays. Make necessary contacts to possible owners.
  • Upkeep the Lost/Found on Animal Humane website. Read and approve anything that will be posted.
  • Generate and mail out any necessary letters.
  • Assist managers with setting up Medical Treatment Returns for previous adopters.
  • Distribute all incoming packages to proper person/department.
  • All other duties as assigned by the Director of Adoptions or Adoption Managers.


  • Education

Requires high school diploma or equivalent and basic computer experience

  • Experience

One year of responsibility for multi-line system (5-10 lines), general clerical experience; some experience producing promotional type materials helpful.

  • Skills and Abilities

Proficient and demonstrated communication skills in handling a multi-line system to direct and expedite the answering and return of in-coming and out-going calls.  Bilingual skills helpful (English/Spanish).  Good English, spelling, punctuation; grammar and arithmetic skills.

Marketing Intern

Job Summary
The Marketing intern is an unpaid part-time position in the Marketing Department. This dynamic team member assists in planning of promotional and fundraising events, promotion of our organization, marketing research and production of marketing collateral.

Specific Duties

  1. Assist in planning & logistical tasks for Doggie Dash & Dawdle, our signature event and largest fundraiser
  2. Promotion of our organization via social media
  3. Production of marketing materials
  4. Update & distribute weekly e-blasts to Animal Humane Adopters
  5. Planning & execution of outreach/awareness events
  6. Continual industry research to discover new/best methods to achieve our mission
  7. Represent Animal Humane and promote our organization at outreach events
  8. Provide creative insight and suggestions to improve and progress Animal Humane’s image in the community.
  9. Maintain a high level of professionalism when representing Animal Humane to the general public.
  10. Work as a team member among all departments of Animal Humane.

Internship Requirements
Typically requires enrollment in pertaining continuing education and/or design certification or college degree. Previous non-profit experience a plus.

Licensed Veterinary Technician

Animal Humane New Mexico Clinic is a full service hospital serving the public in addition to meeting all of the needs of our shelter animals. We are looking for dynamic candidates with strong communication skills and the ability to multi-task to join our veterinary team at Animal Humane New Mexico.

The ideal candidate will possess 3 years minimum experience (2 years high volume experience preferred). Licensed RVT highly preferred. Applicants should possess strong nursing, leadership, training and technical skills - placing IV catheters, blood draws, and administer medical treatments. Be familiar with digital radiography, in house laboratory, anesthesia and surgical assisting and some reception tasks (intake, triage, pharmacy, discharge.)
