Community Relations Manager

Job Summary:  The Community Relations Manager is responsible for developing and maintaining valuable relationships with members of our community, both businesses & citizens, with the goal of saturating community awareness of our organization with a positive perception, increasing pet adoptions and maximizing revenue for Animal Humane. To support and cultivate these relationships, this position is responsible for the coordination of special events and projects which may include, but are not limited to Doggie Dash and Dawdle, donor appreciation events, business fundraising events and sponsorship cultivation and solicitation. This person will also be an active member of the Animal Humane Marketing Team and may have other responsibilities and duties related to marketing as identified by the Marketing Director. 

  • Coordinate and take the lead role on creating and implementing business development programs including the development of plans with budgets, timelines and measurable goals.
  • Collaborate with the Marketing Director and the Senior Director of Development and Marketing in identifying appropriate organization sponsors and soliciting their financial or in-kind support to meet financial goals; including working directly with Marketing Team in developing appropriate promotional material, and collateral for organization. Prepare financial analysis reports. Prepare follow-up reports on all activities with successes, challenges, and recommendations for change for Marketing Director and Executive Director.
  • Plan, design and coordinate all major special events including pre-event, day of and follow-up activities.  Develop budgets, plans, timelines, and committee structures for all events. Collaborate with appropriate Animal Humane staff, Committee Chairs and volunteers to ensure successful events including but not limited to Doggie Dash & Dawdle, Volunteer Appreciation, donor events, the New Mexico Humane Conference, and various adoption events. Work with Marketing Director and Senior Director of Development and Marketing in identifying appropriate event sponsors and soliciting their financial or in-kind support to meet or exceed event financial goals. Collaborate with Marketing Team in developing appropriate promotional materials and collateral for events. Negotiate with special event vendors to ensure financial budgets and goals are met. Prepare event financial analysis reports. Prepare follow-up report on event successes/challenges/recommendations for change for Marketing Director and Executive Director. Coordinate special projects as they arise.
  • Develop other revenue generating projects and research the potential for new partners and revenue generating programs. Cultivate viable funders and business supporters. Manage existing projects and business partner relationships.
  • In collaboration with Marketing Team, contribute to Animal Humane’s social media streams to optimize effective messaging and promote consistent, strong growth. Contribute content to website and events calendar.
  • Work with Marketing Team to ensure that the organization is promoted effectively, positively and consistently year-round. Manage Marketing Intern tasks as appropriate.
  • Keep all event gift records, send acknowledgment letters, and work with our Development Department to ensure that all gifts are recorded in DonorPerfect.
  • Attend weekly meeting with Marketing Team to review status of all programs and events.
  • Research and submit proposals for specific programs for Animal Humane’s business support.
  • Miscellaneous duties as assigned.

Eligibility Requirements:  A minimum of an Associate’s degree in business, marketing, or communication or directly-related field is required. Undergraduate degree in a related field such as communications, public relations, marketing or business is strongly preferred.  In lieu of a degree, consideration will be given to an appropriate and significant related experience in project coordination, sponsorship cultivation and solicitation.

Annual Giving Manager

Job Summary

The primary responsibility of our Annual Giving Manager (AGM) will be to manage Animal Humane’s annual giving programs, including, but not limited to direct mail appeals, newsletters, grant writing and various employee giving campaigns. The AGM will also focus their efforts on mid-level donors by designing and implementing unique communication (face-to-face, print & social media) tactics for our diverse giving groups in an effort to maintain and grow their annual support. The AGM will report to the Senior Director of Development & Marketing and work closely with our Development Specialists to assure donor details are captured and gifts are acknowledged in a prompt manner.

Specific Duties

  • Manage Animal Humane’s Direct Mail Campaign by designing annual packages that capture readers’ attention and showcase our successful programs. This includes working with our direct mail vendor so that our annual mail schedule complements our quarterly newsletters as well as organization-wide mailings.  
  • Manage content, editing, production (design & print) and fulfillment of our quarterly newsletters. Successful completion of this task includes effective communication across departments and working closely with our Graphics & Multimedia Manager as well as coordination with our printing, fulfillment and direct mail vendors.
  • Manage Animal Humane’s Grants Program by: submitting new requests to foundations that have funded our organization historically; preparing applications for new local, state and national funders; and, submitting timely grant reports as needed.
  • Maintain and grow our Monthly Giving Program by implementing stewardship tactics that keep recurring donors engaged and motivated to increase their giving. Additionally, work closely with the Development Team to ensure all monthly contributions are accurately recorded and acknowledged.
  • Coordinate our in-house Annual United Way Employee Giving Campaign and serve as point for all Animal Humane United Way of Central New Mexico & Combined Federal Campaign fundraising and outreach efforts. Additionally, our AGM will work closely with the Development Team to ensure all contributions are recorded accurately in our donor base.
  • Work closely with staff organization-wide to collect data and prepare our annual report. This important project requires our AGM to work in unison with our Graphics & Multimedia Manager.
  • Coordinate our Annual Telephone Thank-a-thon for various groups of constituents. This initiative will require volunteer recruitment, development of scripts and collection of donor details to be recorded in our donor base, DonorPerfect. 
  • Collaborate with the Marketing Department to identify, design and implement new fund raising avenues.
  • Steward businesses/organizations that have numerous employees designating Animal Humane via their annual giving programs. Court organizations that are pet-friendly and express an interest in pets in an effort to gain their support for our mission. 
  • Develop creative, rewarding, cost-effective communication tactics for our diverse giving pools and prospects.
  • Research new partnership and fundraising opportunities as they arise.
  • Work closely with the other members of the Development Team to assure fluid and timely movement of donor correspondence.
  • Work closely with Development Team to prepare annual giving statements each January.
  • All other duties as assigned by the Senior Director of Development & Marketing.

Job Conditions

This is a full-time, exempt position that requires flexible working hours that will include some evening and week-end hours throughout the year.

The position is in contact with staff and volunteers from all areas of Animal Humane, as well as board members, large and small businesses/corporations/organizations/foundations, donors, general public and vendors.

Education

Undergraduate degree in a related field such as communications, public relations, marketing or business.

Marketing Intern

Job Summary
The Marketing intern is an unpaid part-time position in the Marketing Department. This dynamic team member assists in planning of promotional and fundraising events, promotion of our organization, marketing research and production of marketing collateral.

Specific Duties

  1. Assist in planning & logistical tasks for Doggie Dash & Dawdle, our signature event and largest fundraiser
  2. Promotion of our organization via social media
  3. Production of marketing materials
  4. Update & distribute weekly e-blasts to Animal Humane Adopters
  5. Planning & execution of outreach/awareness events
  6. Continual industry research to discover new/best methods to achieve our mission
  7. Represent Animal Humane and promote our organization at outreach events
  8. Provide creative insight and suggestions to improve and progress Animal Humane’s image in the community.
  9. Maintain a high level of professionalism when representing Animal Humane to the general public.
  10. Work as a team member among all departments of Animal Humane.

Internship Requirements
Typically requires enrollment in pertaining continuing education and/or design certification or college degree. Previous non-profit experience a plus.
