| Ways to Make a Difference
While many of our volunteers prefer to walk a dog or cuddle a cat, there are many additional ways to use your unique skills to make a difference for homeless pets, in every department of our organization. Examples:
People person? You may enjoy helping match potential adopters with the perfect pet to fit their lifestyle; assisting with fundraisers; or staffing community outreach events.
Retail Background? You could be a great asset to our Super Thrift Store.
Caregiver? Help pets recover in our Veterinary Clinic or foster a pet.
Skilled photographer or writer? Join our Volunteer Photo or Pet Description Teams to help our pets shine to potential adopters.
Bi-lingual? Aid us in providing programs & services to our diverse community.
Consider where your talents could make the biggest impact when assessing your fit as a volunteer.

Departmental Volunteer Opportunities
Administration:
Our managers and staff need help with office tasks, such as telephone answering, data entry, envelope stuffing, filing or preparation for a special event. Volunteers who want to help, but not necessarily with the pets may find their niche here.
Adoptions:
One of the most rewarding moments an Animal Humane volunteer can experience is sending a dog or cat home to a new family. "Matchmakers", as Adoptions volunteers are called, assist our customers in finding a pet which will complement their lifestyle. Matchmakers are needed at both our main campus and our weekly mobile adoption events.
Animal Care Assistants:
Animal Care volunteers assist the staff in keeping our doggie dorms and kitty condos sparkling clean. They offer enrichment which helps our pets stay calm, comfortable and engaged in appropriate adoptable behaviors.
Veterinary Clinic:
Volunteers in our Clinic assist dogs and cats with their recovery following surgery. They monitor vital signs, hold the animals and keep them warm and comfortable as they awake from anesthesia.
Dog Walkers:
Dog Walkers provide exercise, fresh air, play, grooming and much needed socialization to our canine residents. These volunteers help our dogs learn good leash walking skills and basic obedience.
Cat Socializers:
Cat cuddling volunteers hold, pet, groom and play with our kitty condo residents. They help our felines which are shy gain confidence and those which are overly aroused become less stressed.
Outreach:
Do you have teaching or public speaking skills? Would you like to help us carry the message of Animal Humane's mission in the community, give tours of our campus, or educate school children about humane animal care? Then volunteer to be on our outreach team.
Thrift Stores:
If you love retail, then we may have a job for you at our Super Thrift store located at our main campus. Be the first to see the great bargains as they are donated, get them on the floor and watch them fly out of the store raising money for the animals.
