Make a one-time donation: Submit All of us have had special friends in our lives. Some of them walk on two legs, and some on four. They are all important, but it’s the four-footed ones that ask for nothing more than a full bowl, a warm bed and a gentle hand. These same friends sometimes need our help. Most people know that Animal Humane New Mexico provides life-saving medical treatment, shelter and loving homes to pets in need. Did you also know that your support helps prevent abuse and neglect from happening in the first place? Our K-12 Learn Humane curriculum teaches children (and adults) how to build caring and compassionate relationships with their pets. By teaching kids about kindness to pets right in their classroom, and having them here at our shelter for Camp Humane, we are raising the next generation of responsible pet lovers. Your kind, steady support makes all of it possible. With your help, Animal Humane will continue to provide life-saving care to pets and prevent the abuse and neglect of those who cannot help themselves. P.S. Do you know a child who loves pets? We would love to see them at Camp Humane this summer! Learn more here.

  • A Bright Future for Raj

Make a one-time donation: Submit This is the story of one life forever changed by Animal Humane New Mexico… This time last year, Raj was living at the end of a chain. This sweet, one-eyed American Pitbull mix and both of his brothers were poisoned in their yard, and Raj was the only survivor. When it looked like Raj would need medical attention to remove his remaining eye, a kind neighbor brought him to our shelter to receive the treatment and love he needed. With all Raj had lived through, you would understand if he was hesitant or even afraid of people. However, Raj refused to let his early experiences dampen his loving and gentle spirit. After 77 days spent in our care and relearning how to navigate his new, sightless world, Raj received the gift he truly deserved–a warm home and a loving family who absolutely adores him. His new mom and dad even installed a special doggy door for Raj, so he can use the backyard on his own terms… for as long as he wants. Thank you for your support. With your help we are able to improve the lives of countless cats and dogs, just like Raj, throughout New Mexico.

Make a one-time donation: Submit At 3 months old, Rasputin arrived at Animal Humane New Mexico as a stray. At first, he was frightened–but our Behavior Team knew that Rasputin would be a loving companion for a lucky family if given the chance. After weeks of positive association training, it was clear that young Rasputin wanted a feline friend and mentor–and he received just that in the form of a fellow adoptable kitten. Rasputin and Merlin hit it off immediately and Rasputin blossomed. He learned how to play, and by watching Merlin, he also learned to trust people for the first time. Your generosity allows us to help pets like Rasputin grow into loving, joyful pets. Your contributions help us provide more than 4,000 pets with medical care, nutritious food, warm places to sleep, and lots of love until they find their forever homes. Rasputin and Merlin were listed as a bonded pair and were adopted together from our Cats Around Town partner location, Clark’s Pet Emporium. The two felines now have a loving family, including two human siblings with whom they can play and grow together.
