Training at Animal Humane uses reward-focused techniques designed to strengthen the relationship between you and your pet. Students are taught how to reinforce good behavior and remove rewards to discourage inappropriate behavior. Animal Humane does not promote choke chains or prong collars, but other, more humane training aids are used.
If you are interested in enrolling in training at Animal Humane, please see our 2010 class offerings below.
Puppy PreSchool 6-week course of training and socialization Ages: 8 weeks to 5 months
Start your puppy off on the right paw with playtime with other dogs and interactions with new people. Puppies will also receive training in general manners such as sit, down, stay and coming when called. Coaches will be available to answer questions about behavior issues such as housetraining, chewing and jumping up on people.
Civilized Canine 6-week course of training Ages: 6 months of age and older

Cost for our six-week classes is $50 when you sign up at the time of adopting a pet; $75 for Animal Humane alumni (previous adopters) and $100 for the public. Classes are held at our main campus at 615 Virginia Street SE.
