| Dr. Michael Neal, DVM, Chief Medical Officer
Born in New Mexico and raised in Kentucky, Mike Neal was educated at Auburn University in Alabama, where he received his DVM from the College of Veterinary Medicine in 1995. After graduation, he returned to Kentucky, and practiced large and small animal medicine and surgery, where met his wife, Paula. In 2004, the Neals returned to New Mexico, where they expanded into companion animal medicine in Albuquerque.
In February of 2007, Dr. Neal joined Animal Humane, where he serves as Chief Medical Officer for New Mexico's first full service veterinary clinic for low income clients. Under his guidance, the clinic performs thousands of surgical procedures each year, providing emergency and critical care to companion animals that would not otherwise receive medical attention. Although he specializes in orthopedics and internal medicine, Dr. Neal is a jack-and-master-of-all-trades, and can be seen around campus doing everything from kennel construction to driving his Bobcat. The Neals and their son Ean live in Placitas with a menagerie of their own. |
