Job Title: Annual Giving Manager
Department: Development
Report To: Senior Director of Development & Marketing

 

Job Summary
The primary responsibility of the Annual Giving Manager (AGM) will be to manage Animal Humane’s annual giving programs, including, but not limited to direct mail appeals and various employee giving campaigns. The AGM will also focus their efforts on mid-level donors by designing and implementing unique communication (face-to-face, print & social media) tactics for our diverse giving groups in an effort to maintain and grow their annual support. The AGM will report to the Senior Director of Development & Marketing and work closely with our Development Specialists to assure donor details are captured and gifts are acknowledged in a prompt manner.

 

Specific Duties

  1. Manage Animal Humane’s Direct Mail Campaign by designing annual packages that capture readers’ attention and showcase our successful programs. This includes working with our direct mail vendor so that our annual mail schedule complements our quarterly newsletters as well as organization-wide mailings.
  2. Manage content, editing, production (design & print) and fulfillment of our quarterly newsletters. Successful completion of this task includes effective communication with the Executive and Marketing Directors, as well as coordination with our printing, fulfillment and direct mail vendors.
  3. Manage Animal Humane’s Grants Program by: submitting new requests to foundations that have funded our organization historically; preparing applications for new local, state and national funders; and, submitting timely grant reports as needed.
  4. Maintain and grow our Monthly Giving Program by implementing stewardship tactics that keep recurring donors engaged and motivated to increase their giving.
  5. Collaborate with the Marketing Department to identify, design and implement new fund raising avenues.
  6. Coordinate thank-a-thons for various groups of constituents. This initiative will require volunteer recruitment, development of scripts and collection of donor details to be recorded in DonorPerfect.
  7. Steward businesses/organizations that have numerous employees designating Animal Humane via their annual giving programs. Additionally, court organizations that are pet-friendly and express an interest in pets in an effort to gain their support for our mission.
  8. Orchestrate the mailing of congratulatory cards to new adopters to inspire their giving.
  9. Develop creative, rewarding, cost-effective communication tactics for our diverse giving pools and prospects.
  10. Research new partnership and fundraising opportunities as they arise.
  11. Work closely with the other members of the Development Team to assure fluid and timely movement of donor correspondence.
  12. Work closely with Development Team to prepare annual giving statements and our annual report.
  13. All other duties as assigned by the Senior Director of Development & Marketing.

 

Job Conditions
This is a full-time, exempt position that requires flexible working hours that will include some evening and week-end hours throughout the year.

 

Contacts
The position is in contact with staff and volunteers from all areas of Animal Humane, as well as board members, large and small businesses/corporations/organizations/foundations, donors, general public and vendors.

 

JOB REQUIREMENTS

 

  • Education: Undergraduate degree in a related field such as communications, public relations, marketing or business.
  • Required Skills and Abilities:
    • Proven fundraiser with success in growing annual giving campaigns and securing grants
    • Self-starter with the ability to work independently and monitor your own performance objectives to meet program goals and deadlines
    • Strong data management skills
    • Proven analytical, organization and planning skills
    • Outstanding verbal and written communication talents
    • Exceptional interpersonal skills with ability to work with and motivate diverse individuals and groups
    • Wildly creative, innovative and fun
    • Excellent public speaker
    • Knowledge of donor software programs, spreadsheets, word processing, e-mail and Internet skills.

Job Title: Program Manager
Department: Administration
Report To: Executive Director

 

Job Summary

The Program Manager will report directly to the Executive Director and be a member of the Senior Management Team (SMT).  The purpose of this position is to manage several of Animal Humane’s key programs including Spay New Mexico, Maddie’s Fund, New Mexico Humane Conference, and various social service outreach activities to increase the number of spay/neuter surgeries in the city and state through the development of programs that encourage pet owners to take advantage of the services available. 

 

Spay New Mexico

As part of our overall spay/neuter initiatives, the position will be responsible for operating the Spay New Mexico program which includes manning the toll-free hot-line number, maintaining an accurate listing of statewide spay/neuter services and programs, managing the content on www.spaynm.org and recruiting new program participant to fill “black holes” in coverage. Ultimately, there will be a fundraising component to help support the program.  It is highly likely this program will incorporate the mission of Saving Animals New Mexico which will be folded into Spay NM.

 

Maddie’s Fund 

Maddie’s Fund is the largest animal welfare foundation in the world, offering multi-million dollar grants to communities committed to becoming adoption guarantee communities within a ten year timeframe.  Animal Humane, as the lead agency, has built a coalition including the City’s Animal Welfare Department, PACA, NMAF and Enchantmutts and submitted the Pre-Grant Application (Mid- November) for the Starter Grant Program.  We have received the first in a series of grants and are in the process of completing the second stage, the Pet Evaluation Matrix. 

 

New Mexico Humane Conference

Now in its sixth  year, the NM Humane Conference will held in Albuquerque on August 22 – 23rd.  The two-day conference provides a shelter medicine track with CE Credits as well as courses on fundraising, feral cats, adoptions, and marketing.  Attendance is over 200 people from most NM shelters, and neighboring shelters in Texas, Arizona and Colorado.  The Program Manager’s role is to handle the all details of the conference under the ED’s direction.

 

Other Responsibilities

This position includes supporting the Executive Director in other tasks as assigned including the oversight of the Warm Hearts Network and other programs as directed by the ED.
